Social Media for Business

How do you make social media work for your business?  David Endersby started TW18 Business Media because he knew that many business owners are uncertain how to use social media to best advantage.  Should they use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+, or concentrate their efforts Pinterest and Snapchat?

What is Social Media?

Social Media is 21st century word of mouth and can help business in many different ways.  It can help raise your profile.  Help you to improve your customer service, or build customer loyalty.  Ultimately it can help you to build your business by attracting more customers.

Which platforms you use will depend on what is right for your business and what you are trying to achieve.  David has come up with a simple acronym to help us all remember what to consider in our social media strategy.  It is POST, whach stands for

  • P – People, consider your audience and the platforms they are most likely to use
  • O – Objectives, what are you trying to achieve?  Do you want to entertain people, give useful information, ask them for a response?
  • S – Strategy, once you have worked out the P and the O, the strategy should become more obvious to you
  • T – actually there are three T’s;
    • Technology, which platforms will you use
    • Techniques
    • Time, how much of your precious time should you devote to this strategy?

Video for Social Media

A key factor in social media is getting people to “Share” your material.  If each person you reach shares your content with the people they know, and some of them share it and so on, you reach more and more people.  So make it interesting or fun or fabulous.  Video is the most shareable content for social media.  It needn’t necessarily “go viral” to have an impact on your audience, but the better you make it the more people will share it with their friends.
